The textbook ‘Social Care Practice Placement: An Essential Guide”, written by Aine de Roiste (Munster Technological University), John McHugh (Carlow College) and Aoife Prendergast (Technological University of the Shannon) is a useful resource for social care students, placement officers, placement supervisors and lecturers engaged in practice placement through to engagement in learning from practice.
Overview of Textbook
Managing difficult issues, challenges and concerns on placement is explored in detail and provides solutions and valuable insights for students. The book aims to provide accessible and practical guidance to ensure that students are best prepared to engage in a diversity of aspects of placement learning. It supports the development of reflective and competent social care workers in professional practice by providing structure to the student’s learning journey in their practice education placement. Chapters are built around practice scenarios incorporating the perspectives of the service user, student, supervisor and college practice tutor/lecturer.
