The AHECS CPD Subgroup and Executive Committee would like to invite you attend our next regional in person workshop which will be hosted by Marie Laffey, Head of the Career Development Centre at University of Galway and Chair of AHECS.

Promoting Student Self-Agency Through Career Pathways
This CPD event is focused on empowering students to take ownership of their career development through the use of structured Career Pathways. These pathways, which incorporate eLearning modules, video content, and external career information, guide students through essential steps such as Self-awareness, CV and Interview preparation, and Job Searching. By completing these online pathways, students gain the skills and confidence needed to approach career planning with greater autonomy.
Using the concept of flipped learning, the pathways ensure students are well-prepared before booking an appointment with a career adviser or placement officer. This approach maximises the efficiency of career services, reducing the number of appointments needed while enriching the quality of guidance students receive.
The objective of these pathways is to foster self-agency, allowing students to take proactive steps in their employability journey. By encouraging independent learning, we are seeking to ensure that when students meet with a Careers Adviser/Placement Officer/Employability Adviser etc. the time is spent on deeper, more meaningful discussions.
In this event, you we will provide a demo of key pathways and overview of design approach. You will also get an opportunity to design Career Pathways for your own service, tailoring it to fit your student body’s needs.
